Bright LittleDentistry for children

What we do

Everything a child needs, and nothing they do not

From a first lap exam at one to a last check-up before college. Five things we do most, and a handful we do often enough to be good at.

  • First visits & check-ups

    From age 130–45 minutes

A first visit by the first birthday or the first tooth, then a check-up about every six months. Short, unhurried, and mostly talking.

    • Knee-to-knee exam for babies and toddlers
    • Growth and bite check
    • Brushing and feeding coaching
    • Cavity-risk assessment

  • Cleanings, fluoride & sealants

    All ages30–45 minutes

The everyday work that keeps small teeth out of trouble: a gentle polish, fluoride varnish, and sealants on the grooves where decay starts.

    • Gentle cleaning and polish
    • Fluoride varnish
    • Sealants on permanent molars
    • Silver diamine fluoride where it fits
    Read about cleanings & prevention
  • Fillings, crowns & pulpotomies

    All ages45–75 minutes

When a cavity has already started: tooth-coloured fillings, stainless steel and white crowns, pulpotomies, and honest advice about when a baby tooth is better out.

    • Tooth-coloured fillings
    • Crowns for badly broken baby teeth
    • Pulpotomy (baby root treatment)
    • Extraction when a tooth cannot be saved
    Read about fillings & crowns
  • Comfort & sedation

    All agesDepends on the plan

Most children need nothing more than time and a good explanation. When more is needed we use nitrous oxide, oral sedation, or a hospital general anaesthetic — and we tell you plainly which one fits.

    • Tell-show-do and a stop signal
    • Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
    • Oral sedation with monitoring
    • General anaesthetic referral

Also, often

The things that do not need their own page but come up every week.

  • Dental trauma and emergencies

Same-day slots every weekday for knocked-out and broken teeth, swelling and injuries.

    What to do first
  • Special needs & sensory-friendly care

Desensitising visits, a written care plan, the quiet room, and appointments planned around your child.

    How it works
  • Custom sports mouthguards

Made from an impression, fitted over two visits, in whatever colours your child picks. Far better than a boil-and-bite.

    Book a fitting
  • Extractions and space maintainers

When a baby tooth cannot be saved, and the appliance that keeps the gap open for the adult tooth.

    Growth and space
  • Silver diamine fluoride

Stops a cavity without drilling, and stains it permanently black. We show you a photograph before you decide.

    Prevention
  • Written estimates and cover checks

Kelly checks your Medicaid or insurance and gives you the number before treatment, not with the bill.

Staying in our lane

What we do not do, said plainly

A practice that claims to do everything is telling you something about its judgement. Here is where we stop.

  • We do not fit braces. We screen at about seven, we tell you honestly whether anything needs doing, and we refer to an orthodontist when it does.
  • We do not treat adults. Ages one to eighteen. We will happily recommend somewhere for you.
  • We do not whiten children's teeth. Not at any age we see.
  • We are not an emergency room. Breathing difficulty, spreading swelling, a possible broken jaw or a head injury needs a hospital. Our emergency page says exactly when.

Questions about booking and cover

Do I need a referral to come here?

No. Anyone can book. Paediatricians and general dentists refer children to us and we are happy to write back to them, but you do not need a referral to make an appointment yourself.

Do you see teenagers?

Yes, up to eighteen. From about eleven we start speaking to your child directly rather than about them, with you in the room. Mouthguards, wisdom-tooth monitoring and honest conversations about energy drinks and vaping are the bulk of it.

What do you not do?

We do not fit braces — we screen and refer to an orthodontist. We do not do adult dentistry. We do not do cosmetic whitening on children. And we are not an emergency room: a jaw injury, an airway problem or a spreading facial swelling needs a hospital, not us.

Can all my children be seen in one appointment?

Usually yes, and most families prefer it. Tell us how many and their ages when you book so we allocate the right amount of time and, where we can, two rooms side by side.
